Psychotherapy is the use of psychological methods to aid individuals to change and overcome their own difficulties. It aims to improve an individual’s well-being and mental health, to resolve or mitigate troublesome behaviours, beliefs, compulsions, thoughts, or emotions, as well as to improve inter-personal relationships and social skills. There are a number of different theories of psychotherapy, such as cognitive - behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy and humanistic therapy. Here at Dialogue, we tend to draw on one or more theories of psychotherapy, depending on the clients’ needs and objectives. Examples of the areas that are covered through psychotherapy include mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and interpersonal difficulties.
